Music genres evolution...

I was curious about how music evolved and which bands and artists belong to a specific music genre...The question was what was the difference between Rock and Metal? As I searched the web I found out that Metal is a sub-category of Rock mentioned as Heavy Metal Rock....eventually Metal. I am still in search of a chart involving main Music genres and their sub-categories. For an example I found the following:

This artist was recently suggested to me by a friend and now i cant stop listening to her... Katie Melua's melodic voice makes you travel in mind and relaxes your nerves, at least that was what i felt after listening to plenty of her albums.
